Local manufacturing has played a starring role in one of regional Victoria’s most significant infrastructure builds, with Moama-based Circle P supplying The Green Pipe for stormwater works on Stage 3 of the Echuca-Moama Bridge Project.
Delivered for lead contractor McConnell Dowell, this stage of the project includes a second crossing over the Murray River, a bridge over the Campaspe River, link road approaches connecting Echuca and Moama, and a new shared walking and cycling path. The Green Pipe was installed along the road kerbs as part of the stormwater infrastructure, supplied in standard 6m lengths across six diameters from 250mm to 600mm, each fitted with a bell and spigot joint and rubber O-ring seal.
The Green Pipe is manufactured entirely from recycled plastic, primarily sourced through kerbside bottle collections, using a locally developed and patented low-energy manufacturing process. Testing conducted with CSIRO and Swinburne University confirmed the product holds up against the strongest virgin HDPE alternatives on stiffness and tensile toughness, while cutting the carbon footprint by half.
Being based right in Moama gave the team a close-up view of what this project means locally. Circle P Managing Director Nick Hogan noted the pride in supplying a project that has meaningfully improved travel times between the two towns, and praised the experience of working alongside the wider project team.
The Echuca-Moama Bridge Project adds to a growing list of major infrastructure jobs that have specified The Green Pipe, including the Tullamarine Freeway and Calder Highway projects. Combined with its track record across agricultural and forestry applications and a nationwide distribution network, it’s easy to see why more project teams are asking why they aren’t already using it.
